Duets with Tempest

Last night Tempest and I went down to Olympia and played at Beats Redux, a small dance show that my Mom organized. It was fun! There was a modest crowd but the venue was small enough that it felt nice and crowded. Saw a bunch of dancer friends and had a lovely time!

I feel like Tempest and I have levelled up as a duet. Or, more accurately, I feel like _I_ levelled up as a duet partner. The looping is much more natural and I'm playing melodies that I really enjoy. It's not that I didn't enjoy the melodies and stuff from earlier but I feel like I am more comfortable going out on the improv precipice as time goes on.

I'm really looking forward to doing this every night while on tour this summer! OMG! And having Davis on percussion will only make things better!

Got rehearsal tonight for the show at Norwescon. Things have been sounding good and I'm really looking forward to the event! Got added cello and oboe for good measure!

I really need to write out better lead sheets for the band. Especially Dogwood's new tune The Hellhounds of Hollywood. That song is only easy if you already know it. Otherwise you'll get hella lost from verse to verse.

Also - lunching with Libby. WIN!

Gonna see if I can move all my old LJ stuff here.
